Poop Colors - What Do They Mean

Different POOP COLORS
Normal, healthy poop is soft & brown. It should be roughly tube-shaped, and be free of bacteria, viruses, fungi, blood, pus, mucus, and parasites/worms. If your stool doesn’t meet these criteria, it is a certain sign of a digestive problem. In a healthy digestive system, waste passes from the small intestine to the colon and changes color along the way, from green to yellow to brown. When health issues impede this process different poop colors can result.

Colored poop is not normal in a healthy bowel. What do different poop colors mean?

- Green Stool
Less serious issues include and usually the most common
- Over doing iron supplements
- Refined sugar overdose
- High quantities of Spirulina, Chlorella or other chlorophyll supplements & foods.
- Breast-fed infants can have green stool from the colostrum
- Laxatives & Antibiotics side effects
- Confectionary and sports drinks loaded with toxic green food coloring

The more serious issue here is that due to some underlying health issue, waste is travelling through the bowel too quickly. Green bile sent by the liver to assist in digestion has not had time to compete its job.
Biological reasons for green waste can include:
* Bacterial overgrowth
* Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Ibs)
* Infectious diarrhea
* Food poisoning
* Malabsorption
* Celiac disease
* Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
* Ulcerative Colitis
* Crohn’s disease
* Colon cancer

- White Poop
If solid while stool (look in the bowl and watch for a while) if the white does not dissipate it could indicate serious digestive issues and a doctor should be consulted.
If the white matter dissolves then is just excess mucus and can usually be resolved by change of diet to healthier alternatives or eliminating foods which you may have an allergy to which would explain the excess mucous and undergoing a thorough bowel cleanse with an oxygen based cleanser.

- Yellow Poop colors
Hopefully the cause in an over indulgence in foods containing large amounts of food coloring. If not then is advisable to see your doctor as yellow poop can indicate a serious condition concerning the small intestine, liver or stomach.

- Black and Sticky
See a doctor as quickly as possible. This usually indicates blood in the digestive tract.

- Beetroot shade of red
Usually from red foods

- Very dark brown
Commonly from lack of eating vegetables, excess red wine or salt intake.

- Tan/Clay Colored
Less serious, you have recently consumed too much fat.
More serious, Not enough enzymes are being produced due to a blocked bile duct
Also seen in people with hepatitis, malabsorption disorders or gall bladder disorders.

NOTE: different poop colors can easily result from foods recently eaten and can be the usual cause. If in doubt consult your health professional.
